What the country needs is an Engineer leader – Bayani
What the Philippines needs is a professional Engineer who can reform other sectors such as agriculture, transportation, infrastructure, education, environment, and disaster management.

This is the statement of the Bagumbayan vice-presidential candidate Bayani Fernando in front of the leaders from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon who visited recently in the city of Marikina.

“We need to have people who have technical skills and provide wage increase for them so that they will not have to leave the country to work. Lots of Marikeños were good in shoe making but they were influenced by Chinese investors to go to China to work,” said Bayani who was the former Mayor of Marikina City.

According to Bayani, as a licensed Mechanical Engineer, he offers his expertise to serve the country, especially to the farmers and to the working industry because he believes that being an engineer, he has done big to help uplift the lifestyle of farmers and workers.

Bayani explained that the Philippines has been left behind by other nations because of incorrect, slow and political influences that are prevailing over the government. Now, Bayani believes that it is time for reform, which can only be achieved by a leader who has technical skills and “Political Will” for the sectors mentioned.

“Our farmers and workers are continuously depending on the promises of a leader who doesn’t have technical knowledge and skills nor the courage to implement the law. I offer my services should I be the next vice-president to personally deal with farmers and workers and not being a dictator nor a man of promise,” the former MMDA chairman said.

Bayani is a licensed Mechanical Engineer with wide experience in construction, steel manufacturing, and real estate. He served as Mayor of Marikina City for 9 years and became the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). He was Chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for 6 years, where he became famous because for his “Political Will.”

On the other side of some isses about him, he implemented numerous projects such as fixing the flow of traffic, organized roads, cleanliness of rivers, putting of U-Turn slots and foot bridges, installation of public urinals, clearing of sidewalks and the rapidly reversion of cleanliness and orderliness after the typhoon Ondoy last year.

Bayani Fernando is running for vice-president alongside Sen. Richard Gordon who is running for president under the Bagumbayan Party.
